We believe that for regional problems, new solutions must be created with a regional ownership approach. We pursue our policy on this basis, whether in the Middle East, the South Caucasus, or the Balkans.”

Expressing condolences over loss of lives in the recent Israeli- and US-backed riots in Iran, he said that the prosperity, tranquility, and security of the neighboring were valuable for Turkiye.

Israel is trying to push US to attack Iran

Emphasizing that Turkey is ready to provide any necessary support for the peaceful resolution of issues, Fidan said that the Israel is trying to persuade the United States to carry out a military attack against Iran.

“These efforts by Israel have the potential to seriously damage the fragile stability of the region. We hope the United States will act with prudence and rationality and not allow such a situation to occur. Israel must put an end to its destabilizing policies in the region.”

Turkiye has focused efforts on preserving Syria’s territorial integrity and unity

Fidan said that he had discussed Syria with Araghchi, adding that Ankara continues to firmly focus its efforts on preserving Syria’s territorial integrity and unity.

“As you know, there is a ceasefire process that was extended on January 24. Today it was announced that an agreement on this issue has been reached. We will closely monitor the implementation of this agreement.”

Iran and Turkyie are two important players in the region

Fidan went on to say that he and Araghchi had emphasized the importance of maintaining security and stability in Iraq for the country and the region.

“We intend to cooperate closely with the newly formed Iraqi government along this path. Iran and Turkiye are two important players in their geographical region. In this regard, I believe that the continuation of these contacts is beneficial and necessary not only for our bilateral relations but also for regional security and prosperity.”

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and all the Turkish government have informed all parties that they oppose any military intervention against Iran. President Erdoğan also held a telephone conversation with President Masoud Pezeshkian this morning, he said, emphasizing that problems cannot be resolved by resorting to the military option.

“We support negotiation and diplomacy. What happened in Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, and Gaza is still fresh in our memory. While, on the one hand, we are trying to heal the wounds of the past, opening another wound in the region will bring no benefit to anyone.”

Israel must put an end to its expansionist policies

The Turkish foreign minister also emphasized that Israel must put an end to its expansionist policies and recognize the Palestinian state. “By doing so, it would ensure its own security as well as regional stability—both of which are important.”
